Honey Roasted Spiced Pecans – Made to Order
Absolutely addictive—consider yourself warned. They are spiced not too spicy.
I grew up on a pecan orchard and didn’t fully appreciate the magic of Texas-grown pecans until my freezer was empty and I couldn’t get them anymore. These days, I start with Pawnee pecans—a big, buttery, freckled variety—grown on a family-owned farm in Del Valle, Texas.
The nuts (from the State Tree of Texas) are roasted in our Central Texas honey for the perfect sweet-savory balance, then finished with a spice blend my mom created (and perfected): cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne, ginger, and salt.
The small snack-size bag rarely lasts more than a few minutes once opened. If you grab a larger size—or manage to get them to the kitchen—here are a few favorite ways to enjoy them:
• Add to a cheese board
• Toss into a big green salad (especially great with dried cranberries, pomegranate seeds, and a bold cheese like manchego)
• Scatter decoratively over roasted sweet potatoes
