HAECKER FAMILY FARM

Room for Bees to Roam

When the Haecker family immigrated they settled with dozens of other German families in Cibolo, TX.  220 acres of farm land has been passed down for three generations and farming is still managed by one of the original families.  We discovered the farm is a haven for honey bees when John began catching swarms - there is one particular tree by the creek we have dubbed "the lucky tree".

Today we have a dozens of hives tucked into a mesquite grove.  The thorns on the trees and nearby cactus help keep the cattle out of the yard.

The honey from Haecker Farm varies season to season but can usually be counted on to be a bit darker with a hint of caramel thanks to field of wild and cultivated sunflowers.   The bees also draw  nectar from Mesquite blossoms, Yaupon, Texas Persimmon and Prickly Pear.
